It appears to be a cheap paint job. It doesnt really shine. Several imperfections in the paint. No dents or scratches. Pretty straight. Carpet is removed. Rust is treated.

A VERY CLEAN AND MINIMALIST CAR

Only the bare minimum so you concentrate more on the drive. All original VDO gauges and HELA lighting

Unique Style

  • Voluptuous body style, smooth, round and curvaceous
  • Access to the gas tank is under the bonnet keeping distractions from the body to a minimum
  • All lenses, trim, glass, door handles, switches are original
  • Fresh air vents work as they should
  • Styled before all the safety regulations came in effect. No ugly rubber bumpers, no awful reflectors or lights on the side of fenders. Factory drilled holes for seatbelt anchors, which are installed.

Jump in and drive anywhere

1962 Karmann Ghia for sale

All original 6 volt.

Engine is a 1200 cc (not sure if it’s the original one that came with it). Was/is commuting to work each day (from Vancouver to Portland)

This car turns heads. Tons of looks and questions everywhere it goes.

Has rebuilt carb. New sound and heat insulation in the floor, doors and under the back seat.
Has all original trim, gauges, seats. It hardly leaks oil. A drop every few weeks. Could use a brake adjustment and timing set better. It usually gets between 26 -31 mpg. Installed H4 6 volt headlights. Replaced headlight switch, and upgraded all wires to the headlights. Exhaust manifold had all the carbon build up removed (professionally drilled through)

Interior was stripped. Someone had cut the rust from the floorpans and welded metal (looks like they used an old truck hood) over the cut areas. There wasn’t much rust but i painted the entire interior with POR-15 (wanted to make sure I didn’t miss anything)

Someone did a bad job painting. Or just used bad paint. It doesn’t “shine” its very flat looking. Lots of paint overspray on everything, but I was able to remove most of it. I still have the carpet that it came with (not sure if its original or not) I was planning on either getting it cleaned and reinstalling it or using it as a template and make my own somehow (its like 12 pieces). But after I painted over the POR-15 with a nice flat black paint, I liked the look so I never did anything for carpet. No dents, but unsure if there was any body damage that was repaired by the previous owner.

Not working:
  • Clock
  • Heater—Heater gets toasty hot but my CO2 detector goes off, so I don’t use it
  • Choke on new carb not adjusted correctly, so it needs to warm up a few minutes to idle correctly
